Picante has relocated from its original Morris Avenue location.
An informal 12 table storefront restaurant (263 Morris Avenue), Picante – “The Taste of Mexico” – serves decent Mexican fare. The Chilaquiles (tortilla strips in a red mole, with sour cream) are a very satisfying appetizer, the Chile Relleno is coated in egg, and the tortillas appear to be homemade. Too bad each taco comes with only one tortilla, instead of two as in more traditional taquerias. None of the salsas we tried even approached “spicy” Mexican, so the restaurant’s name is a little misleading.
