Greek

Common Greek dishes like gyros sandwiches, moussaka (layered ground meat and eggplant casserole), spanakopita (spinach and feta pie in flaky phyllo dough) and ubiquitous Greek salads with feta cheese and Kalamata olives are well-known to New Jerseyans. Many of New Jersey’s iconic diners are Greek-owned, with traditional Greek food typically appearing somewhere on almost every wide-ranging diner menu.

More upscale Greek taverns (tavérnas) and restaurants (estiatórios) in New Jersey, like Stamna Greek Taverna in Bloomfield, Skara Estiatorio in Caldwell, and Varka Estiatorio in Ramsey – focus on the broader range of Greek cuisine, including tasty hot and cold small plates (meze), grilled fish, braised meats and homemade breads.

Just added Pithari to the map. Thanks for the tip!

Pithari in Highland Park is not on here. They have incredible, authentic Greek food. Please add them!
